Safety Officer
REPORTS TO: Person In-Charge
JOB ACCOUNTABILITY
Implements the Safety Management System (SMS) standards in the production plant, head office and at the site.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports the development of Occupational, Health and Safety (OMS) policies and programs.
- Advises and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery etc.).
- Conducts risk assessment and enforces preventative measures.
- Reviews existing policies and measures and update them according to legislation.
- Initiates and organizes OHS training of employees and executives.
- Inspects premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e. not using protective equipment).
- Oversees installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc.
- Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy.
- Records and investigates incidents to determine causes and handle worker's compensation claims.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Bachelor's Degree in any field.
- With COSH & BOSH
- In depth knowledge of legislation (e.g. OSHA/EPA) and safety procedures.
- Three (3) year experience as Safety Officer. Preferably in construction/manufacturing industry.
- Knowledgeable in MS Office.
- Strong sense of time management and self-improvement.
- Able to perform productively while under pressure.
- Able to take prompt action to accomplish objectives and achieve goals beyond what is required.
